New, Efficient, Cost-effective: BN Ceramic Molds Replace High-strength Graphite

Time : 2025-01-02Hits : 174

In the field of precision manufacturing, molds play a critical role in ensuring the quality, durability, and efficiency of the final product. Graphite molds and boron nitride (BN)-based ceramic molds are widely used in various industrial applications. This article provides a comparative analysis of graphite molds and boron nitride-based ceramic molds, exploring their distinct characteristics and respective uses.

Conclusion:

· Graphite Molds are suitable for low-cost, low-temperature, or short-term applications. They excel in rapid machining and good thermal conductivity. However, they perform less effectively than boron nitride ceramic molds in high-temperature and chemically corrosive environments.

· Boron Nitride-Based Ceramic Molds offer superior thermal stability, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. They are particularly ideal for high-precision, high-temperature, and harsh environment applications, with longer service life. Despite their higher initial cost, the durability and performance of boron nitride ceramic molds provide a significant competitive advantage in high-precision industries.

Tianyi High-Tech Materials Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has developed boron nitride ceramic molds, which, when combined with a superalloy metal heating plate, are used in non-spherical/free-form (HUD) precision molding machines and 3D glass bending machines for glass processing. This combination eliminates the need for nitrogen protection during the manufacturing process, significantly reducing production costs. Based on the nitrogen usage of 150L/min per machine for graphite molds, it is estimated that each machine can save approximately $1500 in costs.
